About Juliette.

Juliette is Of Counsel at Peacock Piper Tong & Voss, LLP.  She is admitted to practice law in California and Hawaii.  Her work is focused on maritime litigation and transactions.  In addition to representing and advising operators and owners of the ocean shipping industry, ferries, tugs, and passenger vessels, she regularly advises charter yacht and sailing companies.  Juliette earned her J.D. from U.C. Hastings College of the Law, graduating cum laude.  She graduated from Wellesley College, magna cum laude, with a B.A. in Environmental Studies.

Juliette is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Sea Sisters, Inc., a non-profit promoting the recruitment and retention of women in the maritime industry and as the Secretary for the Board of Directors at Call of the Sea, a non-profit youth education and sailing organization based in Sausalito, California.  She is the Chair-Elect for the American Bar Association’s Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee.

When not working, Juliette can be found outdoors: running, swimming, and camping with family and friends.

Practice Areas.

Maritime, Marine Terminals + Transportation.

Juliette represents ship owners, charterers, operators, and their insurers in major marine casualty investigations including vessel allisions, groundings, pollution, and serious injuries.  She defends vessel interests in response to personal injury and wrongful death claims, cargo damage claims, and commercial disputes.  She routinely defends clients in litigation brought in California and Hawaii state and federal courts and has extensive experience defending Jones Act and passenger injury claims.  She has represented both vessel interests and cargo claimants in limitation of liability proceedings.  

Juliette attended the North of England’s Residential Training Course in 2016 and has begun the International Group’s P&IQ Correspondent Certification.

Civil Litigation

Juliette has defended and prosecuted cases on behalf of companies and individuals for breach of contract, fraud, business interference, and other business-related torts.  Juliette is admitted to the Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, all California and Hawaii state and federal courts, and the Court of Federal Claims.

Corporate, Transactional + Intellectual Property.

Juliette has represented global manufacturers in contract negotiations with ocean carriers, third-party logistics providers, and freight forwarders. She counsels manufacturing companies, providing guidance on their rights under United States Federal Maritime Law.

Juliette has assisted business entities and high-net-worth individuals with the purchase, sale, and charter of commercial vessels and mega yachts. She provides guidance to owners of vessels on their rights and obligations related to vessel ownership and management.

Financial Services

Financial Services.

Juliette has defended financial institutions in matters involving claims for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, negligence, breach of contract, and violations of the California Business and Professions Code. She has represented the financial services industry in the defense of customer claims, employment matters, and other commercial litigation. She has represented her clients in FINRA arbitration proceedings, as well as in Federal and California Courts.
